Where to meet friends in Jounieh: a café-bistro open every evening
For a relaxed place to meet friends in Jounieh, Luciole is a café-bistro in Jounieh Souks, open every evening until 10 pm from Tuesday to Sunday, and from 8 am for breakfast. Groups can book a table on WhatsApp, and the menu has dips, bites and desserts made for sharing.
Finding a place to meet friends should be easy. In practice it often turns into a long group chat. Too loud. Too far. Closes too early. Nowhere to sit five people. Somebody always ends up saying "let's just go to the usual place".
Luciole is a good answer to that chat. It is a café and bistro on the first floor of the Chiha Building in Jounieh Souks, open to everyone, and it works for a coffee at 5 pm as well as an evening bite at 9.
Is there a café in Keserwan open in the evening?
Yes. We are open every evening until 10 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and from 8 am for breakfast. We are closed on Mondays.
That gives you a lot of options. Brunch with friends on Saturday morning. Coffee after work on a Thursday. Dessert and sharing plates on a Sunday evening.
Who comes to hang out here?
All kinds of groups. University friends after classes. Colleagues after a long week. Couples. Old school friends who have not seen each other in a while. Groups of boys and girls who just want somewhere calm to talk.
The café was founded by two moms, Jinane and Sophanie, and there is a kids' atelier on the same floor. But the café is a separate space and it is open to everyone. - how many people are coming
- whether you are coming for coffee, a meal or dessert
We will reply and confirm. For weekend evenings, it helps to message a little ahead.
What to order when you are a group
The best way to eat with friends is to order a few things for the middle of the table. Here is the "to share" section of the menu, plus a few extras that travel well around a table.

If the group is hungry
Add a few sandwiches and cut them in half: truffle chicken ($10), sardine fiesta ($12), croque monsieur ($13) or turkey & cheese ciabatta ($13). A salad for the table also works well, like the apple & brie ($13).
For the sweet end of the evening
Tiramisu balls ($13) are made for sharing. Cheesecake ($8), Nutella mousse ($5) and vanilla pudding ($5) are easy add-ons with a last round of coffee.
The menu may change with the season, so ask what is on when you arrive.
What is the atmosphere like?
Calm, warm and bright, with a nice view over Jounieh Souks and the roundabout. It is a place where you can actually hear each other talk. If someone in the group needs to answer an email, there is Wi-Fi and there are power outlets too.
