Where to leave your kids in Jounieh for a few hours
If you live in Jounieh and need a few hours without the kids, you have three real options: family, a babysitter, or a supervised drop-off play space. For short, planned stretches of two to four hours, a drop-off space is often the easiest, as long as you check a few things first.

Every parent knows the moment. The doctor can only see you at 11. The client wants a meeting in Kaslik. It is your anniversary and you have not had a dinner alone in months. And the question is always the same: where do the kids go?
That question is exactly why Luciole exists. Jinane and Sophanie, the two moms behind it, kept running into it themselves. So this guide is the checklist they wish they had.
What are your options in Jounieh?
- Family. Grandparents are gold, but they are not always free, nearby, or up for three energetic kids on a Tuesday.
- A babysitter at home. Great for evenings and bedtime. Harder to arrange at short notice, and your child stays in the same four walls.
- A supervised drop-off play space. You book by the hour, your child joins activities with other kids, and a trained team watches them. Best for daytime errands, work blocks and appointments.
What to check before you leave your child anywhere
Whatever place you choose, ask these questions before the first visit. A good space will answer them without hesitating.
1. Who is watching, and how many children each?
Ask how many staff are on the floor and how many children each adult supervises. Younger children need more adults. Ask about first aid training too.
2. How do check-in and pick-up work?
You should register your child, leave a phone number where you can be reached at all times, and name who is allowed to collect them. If nobody asks you for this, walk away.
3. What will my child actually do?
Screens all afternoon is not childcare. Look for real activities matched to age: crafts, building, music, sensory play for toddlers. Children settle faster when their hands are busy.
4. Is the space clean and closed?
Check the entrance. Children should not be able to wander out. Look at the toilets, the floors and the materials on the shelves.
5. Allergies, snacks and meals
Tell the team about allergies in writing. Ask what snacks are served and whether you can send your own.
6. Can we try it together first?
For a first visit, stay for twenty minutes, or have a coffee nearby. Your child learns the place while you are still close.
How drop-off works at Luciole
Luciole is on the first floor of the Chiha Building in Jounieh Souks. Children join supervised play and workshops by the hour, while parents head out or stay downstairs in our café. We ask for a phone number where we can reach you at all times, and we confirm every booking personally on WhatsApp.
Many parents do not even leave. They sit in the café with a laptop or a friend, knowing their kids are one glass wall away. That is the whole idea: they create, you pause and connect.
Tips for a smooth first drop-off
- Book a time when your child is fed and rested, not right before a nap.
- Say goodbye clearly and briefly. Long goodbyes make it harder.
- Tell your child exactly when you will be back ("after the painting workshop").
- Keep the first visit short, one or two hours, then build up.
The first time is always the hardest, for you more than for them. By the second visit, most children are asking when they can come back.
