What can I do with a 1 or 2 year old in Jounieh?
Finding something for a baby or toddler in Keserwan is not always easy. Many places are built for older kids, with loud play structures or classes that expect children to sit still. Luciole offers sensory play for toddlers aged 1 to 3, in a calm indoor atelier in Jounieh Souks.
Your child explores with their hands and whole body: soft and rough textures, water play, sand, and light play. You stay with them the whole time, which makes it a real "mommy and me" (or daddy and me) moment. If you are still comparing options, we gathered ideas in where to take a toddler in Jounieh.
Why do toddlers join with a parent?
Between 1 and 3, children feel safest exploring something new when a familiar adult is close. That is why toddlers at Luciole always join sensory play with a parent. Drop-off play and our hands-on workshops start from age 3, when most children are ready for a little independence.
Playing alongside your child also lets you see what they love, whether it is pouring water, squeezing something squishy or watching light and shadows. You can read more about why this matters in the benefits of sensory play for toddlers.
What do toddlers enjoy at each age?
Every child is different, but here is what we often see in sensory play:
| Age | What they often enjoy | How you can join in |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | Touching different textures, splashing water, watching light and colours | Sit close, name what they feel (soft, cold, bumpy) and follow their pace |
| 2 years | Pouring, filling and emptying, digging in sand, squeezing and mixing | Offer cups and scoops, let them repeat, celebrate small discoveries |
| 3 years | Simple make-believe, sorting, longer focus on one material | Ask what they are making; from 3 they can also start workshops |
Are there mommy and me classes in Lebanon for dads too?
Yes. People often search for "mommy and me classes", but at Luciole any parent is welcome: moms, dads, grandparents or another caregiver your child trusts. Luciole was founded by two moms, Jinane and Sophanie, and is open to every family.
What should I bring to sensory play?
A short checklist so you can relax and enjoy the session:
- Comfortable clothes that can get a little messy
- A spare outfit, since water and sand play are part of the fun
- Diapers and wipes
- A water bottle or your child's usual cup
- A favourite comforter, if your toddler likes having it close
- Your phone, for the photos you will want to keep
Can I have coffee after the session?
Of course. Our café and bistro is right next to the atelier and open Tuesday to Sunday from 8 am to 10 pm. Stay for a coffee, a croissant or lunch after play. If you have older children too, they can join workshops or drop-off play from age 3; see all our indoor kids activities in Jounieh.
How do I find the schedule?
Sensory play times and prices are shared on WhatsApp, so you always get the current schedule. Send us a message with your child's age and we will tell you what is coming up.
